THE POOL IS OFFICIALLY OPEN!

We opened the pool a few weeks ago, but in true St. Louis form, it got cold again, so it remained empty. Until the other night when it finally got warm enough (thanks to the weather and the heater!) and my husband and the boys just couldn’t take it anymore. Not me, of course. Warm water isn’t enough for me. It has to be warm air also. I can’t have the part of my body that’s sticking out of the water cold, and I can’t be cold when I get out. Weird, I know, but I had fun watching them and taking pictures!

SISTER’S TRIP 2010

My sisters and I went on our 4th vacation, now simply known as The Sister’s Trip, last week to Mexico. We had a few bumps in the road on this trip, however, starting with our connecting flight in Dallas. (Remind me next year to get a direct flight please!)

Everything is going peachy, our 6:00am flight out of St. Louis is uneventful. We get to Dallas, pick up Sister #3 and get on the plane as scheduled. Suddenly we hear an announcement that the pilot doesn’t like this plane and wants to get another one. What? Is there a bug in the cockpit or did a wing fall off? No idea, but we all pile out. Finally, american airlines they find us a new plane. (Considering we were flying American and their hub in is Dallas, it seemed to take a really long time to find us a new plane, but whatever.) We all get on, then get an announcement that one of the passengers apparently left his passport on the first plane (really, who takes their passport out and puts it in the seat pocket?), so either they need to find it on that plane, or find his luggage and leave him in Dallas. Seems like a no-brainer, but for some reason, they didn’t know exactly where the first plane was. Hmmm. Okay. A maintenance guy finally finds the plane, and therefore the passport, and brings it to the silly man who left it behind. So you’d think we’d leave then, right? No, because they had started serving first class already, so we had to wait for them to finish. Seriously, I am NOT making this up! I just love American Airlines!

So, three hours late, we finally get to Mexico, in a torrential downpour. (So I guess it didn’t really matter if we got there late, right?) That seemed to be the theme for the next 2 days. Luckily, it was off and on. So when it stopped raining, we’d run out to the beach and lay down on lounge chairs (yes, sometimes wrapped up in towels!), just to be near the ocean. When it would start raining again, we’d run for cover. I know, we had our suits on, but the rain was really cold! Nevertheless, we were together, we were away from home, and we were still having a great time!

Saturday morning, the sun was shining beautifully! We ran out there as early as we could (after room service delivered breakfast and we ate a few bites) and didn’t move unless we had to pee or eat! It was amazing! We had all of Sunday morning out there also before we had to leave.

So all in all, we got a little sun time and a lot of sister time, which is really the point of The Sister’s Trip anyway! Here’s a few pictures of our vacation:

By the way, every year we have different “sister” shirts on for our trip. This one says “I’m The Sane Sister.”

SKIRT-WEARING BANDIT STRIKES TWICE!

I know we’re not a huge metropolis, here in St. Louis, Missouri, but we have our share of criminals. Sometimes, you just have to stop and say, “What is he thinking?”

We apparently have a criminal here who, although he sports a goatee, likes to dress up in a skirt and woman’s scarf, and rob stores. And notfunny crime just any stores. The first one he robbed was a clothing store named The Hustler Hollywood Boutique. The next week, he robbed a store called Work Wear For Less. Not sure what kind of “Work Wear” they sell there, but I wonder if there’s a pattern here. He’s not stealing clothes, though, he’s stealing cash. He waits for the cashier to open the register, then he pulls a long barreled shot gun out of his skirt (haha, sorry, that just makes me chuckle!) and robs them.

So this story just begs one to wonder: Is he gender confused? Is he trying to “find himself” amidst criminal behavior and cross dressing? What was his childhood like? Does he have Mommy issues? What’s with the goatee? Does he just like the skirt because it hides the gun better? But wouldn’t a pair of sweats work just as well? And then why accessorize with a scarf also?

I NEED ANSWERS HERE!!!

Of course, others need to weigh in also on the newspaper’s website. The best comments both came from Charles Hendrickson who said “At least he hasn’t kilt anyone” and “He’s trying to skirt the law.” Way to go, Charles!

I am anxiously waiting for his next move. Maybe he’ll try wearing stilettos and trip while running away! We can only hope!

HELP ME OUT HERE, PACKER FANS!

I know just enough about football to enjoy the game. (Well, actually, I’m not really enjoying the games right now because I live in St. Louis, and the Rams haven’t won a game in a REALLY long time. Sigh!) But I don’t get this hostility by Packer Fans towards Brett Favre. I realize that he joined brett favre another team in the same division, but so what?

Maybe Green Bay fans should take a lesson from St. Louis fans. We had a very favorite quarterback once, also. You remember Kurt Warner, don’t you? The man that took the Rams to the Superbowl twice, and won once? Well, I bet St. Louis loved Kurt as much as Green Bay loved Brett. So Kurt took a brief stint in New York (hey, didn’t Brett go to New York also? Different team, I know. Still weird, huh?) then went to the Arizona Cardinals. So not only did Kurt Warner go to a team in our division, but he went to the one team who used to actually play in St. Louis.kurt warner

So what did we St. Louisans do the first time Kurt came to play in our stadium as a Cardinal? Did we BOO him? Did we throw things at him? Did we hold up ugly signs? No, we gave him a standing ovation! We clapped so loud and so long, he had to come away from his sideline and wave to all of us.

Now THAT is why St. Louis is a great sports town! Do you get it, Green Bay?

***Now, I’m pretty sure all my facts are correct in this, and I’m guessing there’s more to this Brett Favre thing that I don’t know, so forgive me, but just look for the main point here!
