Monday Madness- YAY for K!

So it's Monday. Pour the coffee! What have you got on your agenda today? Your MUST list? How about your life goal list?In case you're new here at Macaroni and Chicken Fingers, you have to know about Karen's journey to get in shape. Doing it the right way, she exercised and ate right and lost a bunch of weight. She looks FABULOUS!And I do mean fabulous!

Something else you may not have realized about Karen- she's a giver. Not the kind of person who gives and brags about it. She never makes a show about it or embarrasses people. She just goes about, quietly doing her bits of good wherever she goes.
Now she's going to get paid for it! YAY! And believe me, that's not the reason why she's doing it. She will tell you that it's because she needs to get out around other people, mainly ADULTS, and she enjoys doing what she'll be doing. She's going to work for Weight Watchers.

But if you know her at all, you'll know she just wants to make a difference in other people's lives. Nothing makes her happier. So she's going to share her health journey and inspire other people to achieve their goals.I love that about her.

Yours, thinking I want to be like Karen when I grow up,

Melissa

Monday Madness

I'm sorry dear readers. It was completely my fault that there was no Friday Funny last week. I guess you'll have to read all about Zoe's camping trip this coming Friday. (Nothing like shamelessly building a little anticipation, right?)

And I'm grateful to Karen for blogging last Monday while I was stuck in San Francisco. That's an entirely different matter that I'm not certain I'll be able to truthfully blog about without repercussions. Let's just say, this time, it was CLEARLY NOT.MY.FAULT. And yes, I'm holding on to that card for the appropriate moment (insert knowing smirk here).

Today is the Monday that I come to kicking and screaming every single year. I know it's coming. My subconscious has been warning me for two months now, diligently ticking off reminders. I'll bet you have this Monday in your household as well.

Yes, dear readers, it is:

The Last Monday Before Summer Break (Chaos/Boredom/Complaining/Threats Involving Military Academy) Begins.

(Insert hair raising screams and quite possibly an ugly adult meltdown here).

I'm breaking out in hives just thinking about it.

This summer, however, taking a cue from Karen, and from memories of summers past, I have signed my children up for some camps. And swim team. You see, I don't get my summer off now that I have a job that is administrative. Yes, I'll be working a lot from home. And trying to mind the children while I do so. (OY!) Don't get me wrong, I love my children with my entire being. But you know how it is- the moment you MUST get something completed, you become a magnet for all things child related. It's the law of the universe. So this year, I've decided that my Z1 and Z2 will not spend EVERY moment of Summer together. I think it's going to be okay.

If not, there's always chocolate....

Yours, trying to get EVERY last possible thing completed before their break begins,

Melissa

Friday Fun- HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAREN!

Today is Karen's birthday!!!!!

(The picture to the left is her celebrating my birthday earlier this summer. See how wonderful she is? A girlfriend knows. . . .)

Happy Birthday to you, Karen. You're a wonderful friend, a patient partner and simply a good person. Okay. . . stop giving me "the look" and let's have CAKE! (I don't care if you are on Weight Watchers. I'm having cake. Mandatory Birthday Rule).

Pictures to follow when we actually get to celebrate it next week, because you know, Karen has been guilted into a Civil War Trip for her birthday weekend (I'm still not okay with that. I SO understand your pain, K!)

We WILL celebrate properly upon your return!

Melissa
